NTNU Energy Transition Seminar: Are We Prepared for a Targeted Attack on our Energy System?
Thursday 27 November 2025
15:00 – 16:00
NTNU Gløshaugen, Gruva
Oppredning, Sem Sælands vei, Trondheim, Norge
About the event
Organizer: NTNU Energy Transition Initiative
We hope you’ll join us again in Gruva for an engaging discussion on the topic:
Are We Prepared for a Targeted Attack on our Energy System?
Description:
The war in Ukraine has shown how energy infrastructure can become a weapon, and how fragile modern societies are when the power goes out. Norway’s energy system is central to both national resilience and Europe’s security, but how well are we prepared for deliberate attacks, sabotage, or hybrid operations that could cripple critical infrastructure?
At this NTNU Energy Transition Seminar, Gerd Kjølle, Chief Scientist at SINTEF Energy Research and co-editor of “Towards an Energy-Secure and Resilient Society,” will share insights on vulnerabilities in Norway’s power system - from cyber threats and supply chain dependencies to offshore infrastructure risks.
Olga Usachova, researcher at NTNU’s Department of Interdisciplinary Studies of Culture (KULT), will explore the societal dimensions of energy security: public trust, communication, and how resilience is built - or lost - in times of crisis.
Format:
- 15 - 20 minute presentations from each speaker
- 30 minutes plenary
- Pizza and mingling.🍕
Sign up for the email list on the website and receive exclusive invitations to interdisciplinary networking seminars at NTNU, focusing on how different disciplines come together to advance energy research. Join discussions, learn about ongoing research projects, and strengthen your academic network!
