NTNU Energy Transition Seminar: Our Future Power Grid: End-user engagement and system coordination
Wednesday 26 February
15:00 – 16:00
NTNU Gløshaugen, Gruva
Oppredning, Sem Sælands vei, Trondheim, Norge
About the event
Organizer: NTNU Energy Transition Initiative
We hope you’ll join us again in Gruva for an engaging discussion on the topic: Our Future Power Grid: End-user engagement and smart system coordination
Description:
Have you ever wondered how your everyday electricity use could help make the power grid more reliable, sustainable, and even save you money? As our energy system shifts towards more renewables and digital solutions, consumers like you play a big role.
This seminar will explore how smart technologies — like home automation, flexible energy use, and even trading electricity with your neighbors — can change the way we interact with the electricity sector. You'll hear real-world insights from European projects on how individuals can contribute to a smarter grid. You'll also hear about how grid operators meet the need for sufficient flexibility for system balancing, how they handle congestion management and how they think about building resilience for facing emergency events; all while keeping costs affordable.
For professionals in the field, this event provides a quick update on demand response, end-user engagement, and TSO-DSO coordination. Join us in discussing challenges in implementing flexibility at both the consumer and system levels, market mechanisms, grid reliability, and the evolving role of digitalization in power system management.
Our goal is to provide a platform for learning about ongoing research projects, expanding academic networks, and sharing expertise across departments, all while approaching the energy transition from a holistic perspective. And of course, there’ll be pizza! 🍕
Format:
- 15 - 20 minute presentations from each speaker
- 30 minutes plenary
- Pizza and mingling.
