The National Library's Map Center houses the world's most extensive collection of printed maps of Norway, the Nordic countries, and the northern regions. The oldest of these maps date back to 1482, while the most recent are from the late 19th century. Together, the maps represent both a history of the knowledge of Nordic geography and a comprehensive narrative of the development of maps and geography itself.
