Professor of Journalism Maksym Balaklytskyi from the University of Kharkiv, Ukraine, will explain how Russian propaganda works to destabilise society, justify war, blame others and threaten Ukraine's allies.

 

Maksym Balaklytskyi (1977 y.b.) is a Professor of the Journalism Department of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, the highest-ranked Ukrainian University in the QS World University Ranking. He holds a PhD in Social Communications from the Institute of Journalism at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. 

 

Because of the full-scale Russian aggression against Ukraine, he came to the UK in January 2023 to research countering Russian propaganda. Now he is a Visiting Fellow at the Faculty of Media and Communication at Bournemouth University, UK. He is also a news editor at Hope Media Group, a contributor to prominent national and B2B media outlets in Ukraine, author of four books, two student textbooks, and tens of academic articles. Balaklytskyi is married and has a son.
