CEO succession is more than a replacement exercise. It is an opportunity for reinvention — a decision that shapes the organisation's next chapter.

Yet in most boardrooms, succession is treated as an emergency response rather than an ongoing strategic discipline. And when the moment arrives, boards discover that the decision is rarely as rational as they had assumed: it is shaped by relationships, bias, timing, and the quiet dynamics between board and CEO.

What questions should boards be asking long before a transition is on the table? What separates succession processes that strengthen an organisation from those that quietly weaken it?

Join us for an Executive Board Forum with Stanislav Shekshnia, Senior Affiliate Professor at INSEAD and author of 21 Questions About CEO Succession. Drawing on more than 25 years of research and advisory work with boards across the world, Stanislav will challenge the conventional playbook and share what leading boards do differently — from identifying the CEO the organisation will need next, to managing bias in assessment, to guiding the transition long after the appointment is made.
