Building a Self-Hosted Family AI Assistant: Architecture, Security and Lessons Learned
Thursday 28 May
10:00 – 11:00
Medielaben (9. fl., tower 3), Media City Bergen
Lars Hilles gate 30, Bergen, Norway
About the event
Organizer: Media Cluster Norway
🏠 Self-hosted, secure and always on: what really happens when you put an autonomous AI agent into daily life?
When Jensen Huang called OpenClaw "probably the single most important release of software, ever," Stein Ove Molvik decided to put it on a server and find out. The result was Molty: a self-hosted family AI assistant running on a small VPS, woven into daily life with Telegram, calendars, health data, sports activities and smart home control.
📆 Thursday 28 May, we invite you to a new session in Tech Talks.
📍Participate physically in the Media Lab or follow the presentation via Zoom.
In this session, Stein Ove takes us behind the scenes of the Molty project – sharing the architecture, security trade-offs, model routing and the real production lessons behind putting an autonomous agent into daily family life.
About the speaker:
👨 Stein Ove Molvik is Director of Technology Cloud at Arribatec, with more than 25 years of experience across cloud strategy, operations, architecture, security and technology leadership. He started building with AI-assisted development in December 2025, using Visual Studio Code and GitHub Copilot to turn requirements, architecture and product ideas into working systems. His recent work explores how AI can help technology leaders prototype, validate and operate real solutions faster.
