Building Cultural Competency: Recognizing the Unwritten Rules
Wednesday 3 June
14:00 – 14:45
About the event
Organizer: Foreningen Lige Adgang
What does cultural competency look like in practice? And how do we navigate the unwritten rules and expectations that shape professional interactions?
In this webinar, we explore how cultural competency can help create more inclusive workplaces by strengthening awareness of how differences are understood and interpreted — and how this can influence who is invited in, who progresses, and who leaves.
As Danish workplaces become increasingly dependent on international talent, cultural competency is not just a “nice to have” — it is essential for building diverse and inclusive workplaces with equitable access to opportunities and development.
Based on insights from two new practical guides on cultural competency, the webinar combines practical tools, reflections, and lived experiences from a mentor pair navigating cultural differences and workplace expectations in Danish working life.
During the webinar, you will gain:
- Insights into cultural competency as a key to realizing the potential of diverse and inclusive workplace practices
- Practical tools for strengthening intercultural awareness in recruitment, onboarding, and workplace collaboration
- Reflections from a mentor pair on navigating Danish workplace culture and expectations
Emma Klöcker-Gatzwiller, Project Manager at Foreningen Lige Adgang, will present key insights from the guides and facilitate a conversation with a mentor pair sharing their experiences from the Danish labor market.
The webinar and guides are part of the project Successful Labor Market Integration of Highly Skilled Migrants, supported by Fonden Københavns Sprogcenter.
