Agder Cyber Security Forum
Thursday 12 March
14:00 – 16:00
Noroff University College
Tordenskjoldsgate 9, Kristiansand, Norge
About the event
Organizer: GCE NODE, Eyde-klyngen, Digin, Noroff, NFEA and MFS
We warmly welcome you to the next gathering of the Agder Cyber Security Forum! For this session, Noroff is proud to host the network at our premises in Slottskvartalet.
The Agder Cyber Security Forum serves as a vital hub for expertise and networking within the region. Our goal is to facilitate the sharing of experiences and provide actionable insights that participants can take back to their own organisations. These meetings are designed as low-threshold events, combining high-quality professional content with social engagement; as such, the session will not be streamed.
This session features Johan van Niekerk, Professor of Cyber Security at Noroff University College. Professor van Niekerk brings extensive international expertise, including his role as an Honorary Professor at Nelson Mandela University and his work with IFIP technical committees.
The session is divided into two focused parts:
- Foundations of Robust Coding: A brief, practical introduction to what makes code robust and resilient — including common mistakes that lead to vulnerabilities and how to avoid them.
- The Generative AI Frontier: Drawing on a recent peer-reviewed paper published in Computers & Security, we will explore the security implications of using GenAI tools in software development. This includes managing insecure defaults, subtle injection risks, and strategies for maintaining security integrity when using AI assistants.
Programme
- 14:00 – 15:00: Presentation and Discussion
- 15:00 – 16:00: Simple refreshments and networking (mingling)
About the Forum
The clusters NODE, Eyde, Digin, Noroff, NFEA and MFS are behind this forum as we believe this is a topic that is important to collaborate on across industries and expertise environments!
The target group for the forum is anyone who has a cyber security/security responsibility in their company, or who is generally interested in the topic. The meetings are open to everyone in all companies and organizations in Agder and students are also welcome. The meetings will be a low-threshold offer with both good academic and social content (mingling and food) and will therefore not be streamed.
(Note: We will meet in the auditorium in the basement at Noroff!)
