Half-day Seminar: Global Impact, Local Struggles: The Letten Prize and Academic Freedom Today
As an extended celebration of the Letten Prize Award, The Letten Foundation and the Young Academy of Norway invites to a breakfast seminar delving into the impact winning the Letten Prize has had on three of our laureates and their research. The seminar will also focus on the fast-changing conditions and challenges to academic freedom worldwide, with examples from the US and Argentina.

Hear brief keynote reflections from three previous Letten Prize winners on the role the award has played in their careers and work. The keynotes will be followed by interactive discussion and Q&A with the audience.

10:45–11:30 | Global Academic Freedom: Examples from the US and Argentina
Academic freedom is under pressure worldwide. Members of the Letten Prize Committee, Elena Krieger (US) and Iván Dalmau (Argentina), will share insights from their respective contexts. This will be followed by a moderated discussion with audience participation, connecting these cases to broader global trends.
