USk Workshop: Capturing stories. Visual storytelling in the accordion sketchbook.
13 June 18:00 –
15 June 17:00
Oslo
Oslo, Norge
About the event
Organizer: MØKLEBY ILLUSTRASJON
Welcome to an USk Workshop in beautiful Oslo! Join us for a weekend capturing stories in our accordion sketchbooks.
The workshop will focus on visual storytelling in an accordion sketchbook. You will learn ways to find stories around you and how can you tell that story using line, color and lettering. Together we will examine the special qualities of the accordion sketchbook and how to use it to better tell our stories. You will learn about composition, storytelling techniques used in picture books and comic strips, how to use writing and signs to expand the experience and how you can use color as a storytelling and compositional device.
We will sketch in two different locations: Norsk Teknisk Museum (The Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology) and Vigelandsparken (The Vigeland Park). The tech museum is an inside space filled with technology and science, machines and cars, information and discussions, cafés and people. The park is filled with fabulous sculptures and trees, bridges and lawns, dogs and people laughing. Thus we will have two very different experiences and stories to try to record in our sketchbooks!
The workshop will be best for the intermediate and experienced sketcher.
This is an official Urban sketchers workshop, and is a collaboration with Urban Sketchers Oslo (USk Oslo).
