About GRIP
GRIP aims to increase the proportion of women, non-binary and transgender people who gain technical knowledge and practical experience in sound engineering.
Women, non-binary and transgender people are still severely underrepresented in the sound engineering field, and we want to do something about that. The development of the cultural scene is not only about creating a diversity of role models on stage, but also behind the scenes – in production, lighting and sound engineering, and in all the other important roles behind the scenes. GRIP is open to everyone, and we have a goal of welcoming more women, non-binary and transgender people into sound engineering roles in Bergen's cultural organizations
GRIP is part of an initiative at Bergen Kjøtt to strengthen a greater diversity of people with technical expertise in Vestland. In collaboration with several different cultural organizations, Bergen Kjøtt wants to provide long-term, practical training, experience and guidance in sound engineering across cultural disciplines, such as music, dance, performance and theater.
GRIP is a collaborative project between Bergen Kjøtt, BIT Teatergarasjen, Carte Blanche, AKKS Bergen and sound engineer Irene Bjørke. GRIP is organized with partners in Bergen including Borealis, Landmark / Bergen Kunsthall, Østre, Kvarteret and Kulturhuset i Bergen and is supported by Sparebanken Vest, Kulturrom, Bergen municipality and apap-FEMINIST FUTURES (funded by the Creative Europe program in the EU).
